There are so many idyllic places to stay in Asia, but if you ever get the chance to visit the lovely island of Langkawi, stay at the Bon Ton. It is a resort like none other. With just 8 antique Malay houses, you feel right at home. The staff calls you by your name, brings you complimentary afternoon snacks by the pool and also take care of the animals on the premises. Animals? Yes, this is also an animal shelter. And as a non-animal lover, even I really liked the (clean) housecats who were very affectionate.
The restaurant is one of the best on the island. Each Malay house has a bath and all the windows can be opened so you can take a bath and enjoy the view of the laguna. Just one word to describe this place: bliss.
